{"id":2,"date":"2018-11-02T16:59:59","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T16:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kevinguffy.com\/\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2018-11-07T03:30:23","modified_gmt":"2018-11-07T03:30:23","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/kevinguffy.com\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Guffy"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n<strong>GUITARIST \u00a0 VOCALIST \u00a0 \u00a0SONGWRITER \u00a0 \u00a0ARTIST<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nKevin had a guitar in his hands as a kid and began\u00a0performing professionally at age12 getting more serious as a guitarist, Kevin joined his first blues band as a teenager with bassist <em><strong>John Mazzocco<\/strong><\/em>.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSelf taught, he began gigging in Portland Oregon\u00a0with acclaimed bassist \u00a0<strong><em>Ben Wolfe<\/em><\/strong>. At 21 he hit the road with the band <strong><em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Inkspots<\/em>.<\/strong> \u00a0Kevin\u00a0played with great players as a youngster in Portland \u00a0&#8220;I\u00a0was Lucky to have such great players to hang with&#8221;. In 2006 he moved to Hong Kong where he performed live with the <em><strong>JJ&#8217;s<\/strong><\/em> house band at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">A versatile player, Kevin went on to spend ten years in jazz circles performing with legendary Jazz fusion pioneer,\u00a0Jim Pepper, \u00a0bassist Lester McFarland and\u00a0bassist Ben Wolfe.<\/span>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nKevin was deeply influenced at that time by legendary Jazz fusion pioneer Tenor Player Jim Pepper who was living in Portland at the time, he\u00a0did some gigs with Pepper \u00a0and\u00a0learned from Jim &#8220;his presence influenced me\u00a0just being around him&#8221; .\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nKevin began working as a guitarist for the Inkspots, country legend Furlin Husky, the Coasters and\u00a0other sideman work. Later he began song-writing and formed his own band releasing his first Album in 1997 where he\u00a0worked throughout the states.
